Training in Singapore on 23 June 2017 by  Dr Geoff Cox  & Graham Cook

Timings: 9 - 5.30 pm

Location: ERCI, #10-01, 30 Prinsep Street, Singapore 188647

Why do so many established and often well managed companies struggle with disruptive innovation? Many times it is simply because companies have been doing the same things, in the same ways, and for the same reasons for so long, that they struggle with the concept of change.

The evidence that this is the case in an organisation is often found by listening to the number of times that you can hear people saying things like  “That will never work,” “We can’t do that,” “That’s not my problem,” and  “We’ve always done it this way.”

The underlying mind-set is that change and innovation is something that happens elsewhere, rather than something that should be the concern of every employee, every day.

Our experience at RSVP Design is that success in breaking this mindset and developing a workforce that is capable of negotiating disruptive environments is largely dependent on creating two attitudes of responsiveness, Learning Agility and Positive Reframing

Author George Hallenbeck (2016) defines learning agility as: “the ability and willingness to learn from experience and subsequently apply that learning to perform successfully under new and challenging conditions.” Hallenbeck goes on to say: “It is an essential skill for leaders during times of change when both problems and their solutions lack clarity.”

Positive Reframing as a response to the first signs of a disruptive innovation is about anticipating, or reacting to, the development not as a threat, but as an opportunity.

This program is aimed at developing skills in individuals to Effectively Navigate Disruption in their operating roles at work.

We will use experiential learning activities in the morning to look at Learning Agility & Positive Reframing. In the afternoon we will do an extended simulation activity  that will provide opportunities for the participants to rehearse their responses to various sources of disruption.

Spend your day learning from world-class designers and thinkers,  Dr. Geoff Cox & Graham Cook who have designed internationally renowned products like the communication experiential activity, 'Colourblind'® exercise and the behavioural simulation "Shaping the Future".

Workshop objectives:

  1. Develop your understanding of disruption and how to move your organisation towards a mind-set that it better able to deal with disruption.
  2. Explore the role of experiential approaches to the development of Learning Agility as an essential skill set when faced with disruption.
  3. Practice the techniques that build Positive Reframing as a strong platform for disruptive conditions.
  4. Examine the nature of disruption in changing organisational priorities and building the leadership culture that responds effectively to those changes.

 Who should attend?

Senior executives, leaders, operational managers, HR managers, coaches and consultants.
